Two Kinds Of Locks, Two Sets Of Rules
Who holds the key decides who has custody, so the Storage tab in the POS treats the two cases differently. With a store-keyed locker, you have custody, so the gun is booked as an acquisition from the customer at check-in and a disposition back at check-out. With the customer’s own lock, there’s no bound book entry, but the gun still shows on your custody report because it’s in your building.
A Minute At The Counter
- Intake rules you choose, such as photos, condition notes, a verified ID or a signed storage agreement, enforced by the system.
- A printed claim ticket with the customer, the gun, its locker and a storage number, plus optional email receipts.
- Temporary release and return for a day at the range, recorded in the item’s history.
- Check-out to the owner, with release to anyone else off by default and, when a manager allows it, recorded with its transfer paperwork reference.
Every Move On The Record
- A custody history per item, written at the same moment as each status change so the two never disagree.
- Bound book entries through FastBound, Orchid or a paper book, with a manager override to close out an entry recorded another way.
- A custody manifest of every item on premises, with locker, customer, lock type, book status and days in storage, ready to print or export to CSV.
Rent That Collects Itself
- Monthly or prepaid rent with rates by locker size, a grace period, a flat late fee and a taxable setting.
- Lockers included with memberships for the tiers you choose.
- Collect at the register from the item’s charges panel, with managers able to waive, void or adjust.
- Reminders before rent is due and while it’s overdue, on a schedule you set.
- One record per payment, so a retried payment can’t collect the same month twice.
When The Rent Stops
After rent goes unpaid for the number of days you choose, the item is flagged for a manager to review. Only a manager can mark it abandoned, with a reason, and you can allow converting an abandoned gun to a consignment while keeping its original bound book record. Abandoned-property rules vary by state, so the system records and flags, and leaves the decision to you.
A Storage Page For Your Customers
When turned on, customers get a Storage page in their account on your website showing what they have in storage, their locker, their balance and past charges, with online rent payment if you allow it. They see that their gun is on file with you, without any bound book details.
