Keep The Bound-Book Step With The Sale
A receiving or transfer workflow asks staff to keep the product record, serial, customer, 4473, and pickup status aligned. MFS Exchange provides a direct FastBound connection for routine acquisition and disposition work, while the bound-book provider remains the system of record for its own compliance data.
Receive, Assign, And Prepare The Transfer
- Acquire and dispose firearms from the POS or WordPress admin, keeping routine work in the order and inventory workflow.
- Link FastBound items to WooCommerce products automatically as they sync, or manually for edge cases. Unlinked items get their own admin page so you can clean up gaps.
- Serial-number assignment in the order screen with return-to-inventory handling on cancellation. Staff can see which unit is assigned to each order before pickup.
- Stock counts driven by available serial numbers on linked products, so the storefront and POS can reflect the available units in the local catalog.
- Acquisitions from the workflows you already run — buybacks and trade-ins at the register, consignments, purchase-order receiving, transfers and storage check-ins.
- Sold-elsewhere protection — before selling a serial, the register checks FastBound and refuses one it shows as already sold, with a manager override only when FastBound can’t be reached. A serial also can’t sit on two open orders at once.
- FFL lookup for shipping — the register’s ship-to-FFL flow searches FFLs by ZIP code through your FastBound connection.
Prepare And Complete The Disposition
- Create Pending Disposition — adds all order items to a disposition in FastBound with pricing, ready for the 4473 step.
- Create Pending Disposition and Attach 4473 — does the above, then locks the disposition with a 4473 form attached and returns the buyer certification PIN back to the UI for use in the background-check workflow.
- 4473 form attachment returns the relevant completion detail to MFS Exchange, so staff can keep the order's transfer record together.
- Automatic cancellation handling — if an order is cancelled before disposition, serials return to inventory and stock updates flow through.
Manufacturer And Attribute Normalization
- Manufacturer mapping normalizes distributor values so "GLOCK", "Glock Inc.", and "Glock, Inc." all map to one canonical entry.
- Attribute mapping standardizes caliber, action type, barrel length, and other fields across distributor sources — eliminates near-duplicate attributes caused by slight naming variations.
- SKU format conventions — uses your prefix + UPC (e.g.,
FFL-123456789), and each used firearm gets its own product with its serial in the SKU (e.g.,FFL-123456789-U-AB12345), so SKUs stay clean and predictable. - Stock tracking automatically enabled on linked products with quantities driven by available serial numbers.
- Product attributes auto-populated — manufacturer, model, caliber, type, and condition pulled from the FastBound item and applied to the WooCommerce product.
Give Staff A Clear Exception Path
- Unlinked Items page — items in FastBound that aren't yet linked to a WooCommerce product. Link to existing or create new.
- Linked Items page — items connected to products, with stock levels and an unlink option.
- Missing-serial unlink handling — if a linked serial disappears from FastBound, the product is safely unlinked and surfaced for cleanup, rather than silently drifting out of sync.
- Settings page — connection credentials, 3-letter local prefix, and connection config.
- Optional 15-minute inventory refresh for stores whose FastBound updates don’t always arrive on their own.
- Order management — serial selection saves to the order as staff assign each unit, alongside FastBound ID tracking and 4473 processing on the WooCommerce order screen.

The FastBound connection is part of the MFS Exchange build. The FastBound subscription remains with FastBound. Stores on Orchid or a paper book are supported too, each with its own setup. See our FastBound partner page for the FastBound path and onboarding details.
